Estimator HVAC
Location: On site in Glendale, CA
A well-established mechanical services organization is building on strong momentum across commercial HVAC projects and is looking for an Estimator HVAC who can help shape winning pursuits from early review through final bid. This is a high impact role for someone who enjoys translating plans into strategy, partnering with operations and field teams, and helping deliver profitable work in a fast-moving environment. The position offers the chance to influence project selection, pricing accuracy, and long-term growth while working with a team that values responsiveness, accountability, and quality.
What You Will Do
- Prepare detailed cost proposals for commercial HVAC and mechanical construction opportunities, aligning labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor pricing with project scope.
- Review drawings, specifications, bid documents, and contract requirements to uncover scope gaps, cost drivers, and risk areas before submission.
- Partner with project leaders, field stakeholders, vendors, and subcontractors to gather pricing inputs and build competitive, well supported estimates.
- Analyze project requirements and market conditions to develop bid strategies that balance competitiveness with margin goals.
- Support scope clarification, takeoffs, pricing reviews, and handoff activities so awarded work transitions smoothly into execution.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings, alternate approaches, and value focused recommendations that strengthen overall proposal quality.
- Maintain organized estimating records, vendor communication, and supporting documentation for current and future pursuits.
- Monitor pricing movement across labor, materials, and subcontractor markets to keep estimates timely and aligned with current conditions.
What You Bring
- Experience in HVAC, mechanical construction, or a closely related estimating environment.
- Strong ability to interpret plans, specifications, and bid packages with a sharp eye for scope completeness and pricing accuracy.
- Background coordinating with suppliers, subcontractors, and internal teams during the bid development process.
- Knowledge of construction cost structure, contract considerations, and budget control fundamentals.
- Comfort using estimating and takeoff tools, including platforms such as Bluebeam, HeavyBid, or similar systems.
- Strong organizational skills, sound judgment, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines with attention to detail.
- Clear communication skills and a collaborative approach to working across preconstruction and project delivery teams.
Preferred Background
- Experience supporting commercial mechanical or HVAC projects in the Southern California market.
- Familiarity with project values ranging from mid-sized assignments through multi-million-dollar opportunities.
