Job Summary
We are a fast‑growing HVAC, plumbing, and electrical service provider specializing in the multi‑family vertical market. With demand increasing rapidly, we are expanding our team and seeking an experienced MEP Estimator to support our sales and operations teams.
This role is critical to improving our response time on customer requests, developing accurate scopes of work, and ensuring our proposals are timely, competitive, and professionally presented. You will work closely with sales, field operations, procurement, and subcontractors to deliver high‑quality estimates and proposals.
Key Responsibilities Include: (But not limited to the following)
Job Walks & Scope Development
- Conduct on‑site job walks to assess project conditions, gather technical details, and develop accurate scopes of work.
- Collaborate with sales and field teams to clarify customer needs and identify project constraints or opportunities.
- Document site findings with photos, notes, and measurements to support estimating and proposal development.
Estimating & Proposal Development
- Prepare detailed estimates for HVAC, plumbing, and electrical service projects, repairs, and replacements.
- Develop proposal frameworks including scope, pricing, exclusions, clarifications, and schedule assumptions.
- Utilize internal estimating tools and ServiceTitan to generate field‑based quotes when needed.
- Review drawings, specifications, and customer documentation to ensure accurate takeoffs and pricing.
Subcontractor & Vendor Coordination
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor bids for labor, specialty services, and materials.
- Work with the procurement team to obtain custom pricing, verify lead times, and ensure competitive sourcing.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors and subcontractors to support accurate and timely estimates.
Follow‑Up & Pipeline Support
- Track open estimates and follow up with customers to answer questions, clarify scope, and support the sales process.
- Review and follow up on field‑generated quotes from ServiceTitan on a weekly basis.
- Support sales team with revisions, value‑engineering options, and alternative solutions when needed.
Qualifications
Education:
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (preferred but not required with experience).
Experience:
- 3–7 years of estimating experience in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, or general MEP.
- Strong understanding of service‑based work in occupied facilities (multi‑family experience preferred).
- Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and technical documents.
- Background in multi‑family, light commercial, or service‑oriented contracting.
- Knowledge of local codes and permitting requirements.
- Technical field experience in HVAC, plumbing, or electrical (journeyman or technician background is a plus).
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency with estimating software, spreadsheets, and digital takeoff tools.
- Experience with ServiceTitan or similar field service management platforms.
Soft Skills:
- Excellent communication skills—able to interface with customers, field staff, and subcontractors.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple estimates simultaneously.
