Job Title: Service Manager – Mechanical / HVAC

Compensation: $130,000 – $150,000 Base Salary + Full Benefits Package + Bonus

A well-established mechanical contractor in the San Jose market is seeking an experienced Service Manager to lead and grow its HVAC and mechanical service division. This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for operations, profitability, team development, and client relationships within an expanding service department.
The company supports commercial, technology, healthcare, and industrial facilities across the Bay Area and maintains a strong recurring maintenance portfolio.
Position Overview
The Service Manager will oversee all service operations including technicians, dispatch, maintenance contracts, and customer relationships. This individual will drive revenue growth, manage departmental profitability, and ensure high-quality service delivery.
This role requires a hands-on leader with strong operational discipline and business acumen.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the HVAC/mechanical service division
- Manage service technicians, dispatchers, and support personnel
- Drive service revenue growth and maintain gross margin targets
- Oversee preventive maintenance programs and service agreements
- Review proposals, pricing, and service contracts
- Track KPIs including labor efficiency, billable utilization, and profitability
- Maintain strong relationships with commercial clients
- Ensure safety compliance and operational standards
- Lead recruiting, training, and development of service team members
- Coordinate with construction and project teams for cross-selling opportunities
Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in commercial HVAC or mechanical service
- 3+ years in a management or leadership role
- Strong understanding of service operations, dispatch workflows, and PM contracts
- Experience managing P&L and departmental budgets
- Proven ability to grow service revenue and improve margins
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Experience with service management software platforms
