Role Summary
An opportunity for an experienced HVAC Controls Estimator to join a specialist building automation organisation delivering complex, high-value projects in critical environments. This role has a strong focus on data centre work, offering full remote working with no travel, and the chance to take ownership of technically detailed estimates within a specialist team.

Role responsibilities
- Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for HVAC controls and building automation projects, with a strong focus on data centre environments
- Interpret technical drawings, specifications, and tender documentation for complex critical infrastructure
- Develop bills of materials, labour allocations, and fully costed proposals
- Engage with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive and accurate pricing
- Collaborate closely with engineering and delivery teams to ensure technical and commercial alignment
- Evaluate project risks, identify value engineering opportunities, and optimise cost efficiency
- Support bid submissions with clear, structured, and professional documentation
- Participate in internal tender reviews and client discussions where required
- Maintain up to date knowledge of market rates, systems, and emerging technologies within the data centre sector
Required experience and skills
- Minimum 5 years of estimating experience within HVAC controls, BMS, or building automation
- Strong technical understanding of BAS and BMS systems, including control strategies and system architecture
- Proven experience estimating within critical or mission critical environments
- Solid understanding of MEP drawings and specifications
- High attention to detail with strong commercial awareness
- Confident communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a remote environment
Additional or desirable experience
- Direct experience working on data centre projects is strongly preferred
- Experience within other critical environments such as pharmaceutical facilities, laboratories, or cleanrooms is also valuable
- Exposure to highly resilient systems and redundancy strategies typical in mission critical design
- Experience supporting value engineering on technically complex bids
Systems and technologies
- Building Management Systems and Building Automation Systems
- DDC controls and associated field devices
- Protocols such as BACnet and Modbus
- Exposure to platforms such as Distech, Siemens, Schneider, Honeywell, or Tridium based systems
Location, travel, and working pattern
This is a fully remote position with zero travel requirements.
