We're looking for an experienced
HVAC Service Technician to support
commercial and industrial HVAC service operations in the
Birmingham, Alabama area. This role focuses on diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues, performing system repairs, and maintaining reliable HVAC performance for commercial customers.
The ideal candidate has strong troubleshooting experience and is comfortable servicing a variety of HVAC equipment, including
commercial chiller systems. This position involves responding to service calls, performing preventative maintenance, and identifying system issues before they lead to equipment failure.
This opportunity is well suited for a skilled HVAC professional who enjoys hands-on diagnostics, working independently in the field, and delivering dependable service to commercial clients.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair HVAC systems across commercial and industrial environments
- Service equipment including furnaces, condensers, heat pumps, air handlers, and related HVAC components
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair commercial chiller systems and associated cooling equipment
- Perform preventative maintenance inspections to improve system performance and equipment lifespan
- Identify repair needs and recommend system improvements or upgrades when appropriate
- Ensure all work complies with local building codes, manufacturer specifications, and safety standards
- Complete detailed service documentation including repair notes, labor hours, and parts usage
- Communicate findings, repair options, and maintenance recommendations clearly to customers
- Coordinate with installation teams and office staff to maintain efficient scheduling and workflow
Requirements
- Minimum 2+ years of HVAC service and repair experience
- Hands-on experience maintaining, diagnosing, or repairing HVAC chiller systems
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, refrigeration cycles, airflow, and HVAC diagnostics
- EPA certification required (additional certifications are a plus)
- Ability to read wiring diagrams and manufacturer schematics
- Valid driver's license with clean driving record
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently while maintaining safety and quality standards
