Job Title: Estimator - Mechanical (HVAC and Plumbing)

A well-established mechanical contractor is seeking an experienced Estimator to support continued growth across commercial mechanical projects. The business delivers HVAC and plumbing installations across a wide range of commercial builds and is looking for someone who can confidently price work and support the preconstruction process from initial enquiry through bid submission.
This role suits someone with a strong mechanical estimating background who understands both HVAC and plumbing scopes and enjoys working closely with operations and project teams to win and deliver profitable work.
The Role
As Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing competitive and accurate cost estimates for commercial mechanical projects, working closely with internal teams, suppliers, and subcontractors throughout the bid process.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed HVAC and plumbing estimates for commercial construction projects
- Perform quantity take-offs and cost analysis from drawings and specifications
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing
- Collaborate with project management and operations teams during preconstruction
- Assist with value engineering and scope clarification during bid stages
- Support handover from estimating to project delivery teams upon award
Requirements
- Experience estimating commercial HVAC projects, ideally with plumbing exposure as well
- Strong understanding of mechanical construction methods, materials, and labor costing
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications
- Experience working with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain pricing
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Comfortable managing multiple bids simultaneously
