HVAC Engineer | Floating Production Units | Houston
Rhumbl Group is partnering with a leading offshore and marine engineering group to appoint an experienced HVAC Engineer for its Floating Production Unit (FPU) projects, based in Houston.
This is a hands-on design role for an HVAC specialist who has worked across marine, offshore or shipyard projects and wants to apply that expertise on complex floating production assets, from design through to delivery.
What you will be doing
- Reviewing and validating project specifications and drawings, including HVAC arrangement drawings, ducting and piping instrumentation diagrams (D&ID, P&ID) and related engineering data.
- Performing and verifying HVAC calculations such as cooling and heat load, duct sizing, pressure drop and noise, in line with ISO and ASHRAE standards.
- Reviewing and approving detailed design deliverables (ducting arrangements, equipment foundations and installation, machinery room layouts, bills of materials and mechanical outfitting drawings) to meet contractual and Classification Society requirements.
- Coordinating with owners, statutory bodies and classification societies to secure design compliance and approval, and resolving technical queries.
- Leading technical discussions with internal engineering teams, subcontractors and vendors, and overseeing HVAC design deliverables through the project.
What you will bring
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical, marine or HVAC engineering, with a strong HVAC systems background.
- 8 to 10 years of experience in HVAC engineering design.
- Strong knowledge of international design codes and Classification/Statutory rules and regulations.
- Experience with an HVAC turnkey contractor, HVAC equipment supplier or a shipyard HVAC department.
- Proficiency in Navisworks, AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.

- Candidates must be based in Houston, or willing to relocate to Houston.
