About the Role
HVAC Estimator Goal: To professionally manage the preparation of estimates in accordance with procedures and to provide post bid sales assistance to the manager in analysis of changing conditions, marketing strategies, competition data.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the preparation of the estimate plan.
- Review all reported document scope and take-off inconsistencies and provide direction to Estimating Staff that is in keeping with procedures.
- Responsible for the preparation of the condensed specification, and assure that it is in compliance with project requirements as modified by upper management.
- Review the estimate prior to bid wrap-up to insure accuracy and completeness.
- Develop and implement take-off procedures for non standard work.
- Review the take-off to insure completeness of all non standard take-offs.
- Verify that only work as shown on the documents or as instructed by the Chief Estimator is indicated in the take-off.
- Responsible for preparation of equipment and subcontractor analysis sheets and supervise the gathering of required information.
- Responsible for price and quantity surveys prepared by Estimating Staff.
- Delegate assignments and motivate subordinates to assure that work is completed on time.
- Train subordinates in all matters regarding estimate preparation and to elevate overall effectiveness of estimate accuracy.
- Analyze historical data and insure that take-offs are produced reflecting this data.
- Prepare estimates that can easily be used as cost control/management tools by the operating personnel.
- Review estimates/proposal with Chief Estimator prior to submission of bids.
- Perform additional assignments per supervisor’s direction.
