Duties And Responsibilities
The Project Estimator is responsible for determining the costs, appropriate product selection, product application, benefits and drawbacks of a project as well as creating the documentation to help the organization and client make mutually beneficial decisions that meet the needs and scope of a project.
- Analyze project documentation: Review plans, blueprints, bills of quantities, schedules, and other documents or software to estimate costs.
- Research and negotiate: Find suppliers and negotiate the best prices and quotes
- Determine project timeline: Consider factors like obtaining material pricing, budgets, quotes and potential setbacks to decide how long it will take to complete the project estimate
- Assess risk: Identify and communicate potential financial or logistical issues and track variations to plans.
- Prepare bids: Respond to requests for quotes, prepare and submit proposals, technical documents, and submittal data for projects
- Communication: Work with clients, contractors, suppliers and internal staff to gather data and maintain efficient and effective methods of providing information to internal and external customers.
- Continually Marketing the company and looking for future opportunities to grow business
- Meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Proficient with various commercial, ductless, unitary, software, web tools and manufactures web tools.
Required
Education, Experience, and Job Specific Skills
- High School Diploma or G.E.D and minimum of two years related experience and/or training in the HVAC/R industry; OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Working knowledge of current construction standards, adept in reading equipment schedules and mechanical blueprints, print take off, job estimating.
Preferred Qualifications
Able to work autonomously. Able to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Previous experience in looking at construction blueprints/sets of plans.
