Role Description The Ductwork Estimator / Takeoff role is a full-time, on-site position based in Gainesville, GA. This role is responsible for reviewing plans and specifications, performing detailed ductwork takeoffs, and preparing accurate material and labor estimates for residential and commercial HVAC projects. Day-to-day tasks include analyzing mechanical drawings, calculating duct sizes and quantities, coordinating with project managers and installers, and updating estimates as project details change. The estimator will also communicate with vendors, assist with proposal preparation, and help ensure projects meet budget and schedule targets. Collaboration with the field team and office staff is essential to support smooth project execution.
Qualifications
- Strong ability to read and interpret mechanical plans, specifications, and construction documents; proficiency with ductwork layouts and HVAC system components.
- Experience performing detailed takeoffs and cost estimates for ductwork, fittings, and related materials, using manual methods and/or estimating software.
- Solid math skills, attention to detail, and comfort working with measurements, calculations, and project budgets.
- Basic computer skills, including familiarity with spreadsheets, email, and document management; experience with HVAC or construction estimating tools is a plus.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with project managers, installers, suppliers, and customers.
- Ability to work on-site full-time, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Prior experience in HVAC, sheet metal, or construction estimating is preferred; field experience in ductwork installation is a plus.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or certification in HVAC, construction, or estimating is beneficial.
