A well-established mechanical contractor specializing in HVAC construction, installation, and maintenance throughout the NY Tri-State area is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join its growing team. This role will oversee mechanical construction projects from pre-construction through closeout, ensuring successful delivery on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
The Project Manager will report directly to the Director of Special Projects and serve as the primary point of contact for clients, subcontractors, and internal teams throughout the project lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Manage HVAC, plumbing, and piping construction projects from start to finish
- Deliver turnkey mechanical contracting solutions tailored to client needs
- Ensure projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and according to scope
- Coordinate subcontractors, engineers, architects, trades personnel, and internal labor teams
- Procure materials, tools, and equipment while maintaining cost-effective purchasing practices
- Conduct daily site visits and inspections to monitor project progress and quality
- Collaborate with Safety and Quality Control teams to maintain compliance with all standards
- Oversee sequencing and coordination of HVAC, plumbing, and piping system installations
- Prepare and manage project documentation including RFIs, schedules, proposals, and correspondence
- Review subcontractor change orders and resolve field-related issues
- Analyze project costs, pricing, and bid evaluations to support value engineering and cost control
- Assess site conditions and develop practical project solutions with accurate scheduling and budgeting
- Negotiate with vendors and review material submittals and invoices
- Maintain strong client relationships through consistent communication and exceptional customer service
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience within an HVAC or mechanical contracting environment
- Strong project management and multitasking abilities in fast-paced construction settings
- Experience managing subcontractors, vendors, schedules, and budgets
- Excellent negotiation and cost control skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Experience with Sage 100 or similar construction/accounting software is a plus
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively while maintaining attention to detail
