Job Summary:
The AI & Automation Engineer plays a key role in designing, developing, and delivering intelligent automation and AI solutions within the IT organization, supporting diverse business areas and functions across the company. This hybrid role requires three to four days onsite at our Houston Spenwick facilities during normal business hours.
Essential Functions
- Automation & AI Solution Development: Collaborate with business stakeholders to identify and document opportunities for automation and AI. Design, develop, and maintain RPA workflows using tools like UiPath Studio or Power Automate, and implement AI-driven solutions, including intelligent agents, custom models, and machine learning applications.
- Integration: Integrate automation and AI solutions with other systems and applications, such as databases, APIs, enterprise platforms, and third-party software, aligning with integration standards and principles.
- Process Assessment: Analyze existing business processes to identify opportunities for automation and AI enhancement. Evaluate feasibility, ROI, and develop supporting documentation, including process maps and solution design documents.
- Testing and Optimization: Develop and execute test cases to ensure the accuracy, reliability, and performance of automation and AI solutions. Debug and optimize workflows and models.
- AI Research and Innovation: Research emerging AI technologies and methodologies (e.g., LLMs, RAG, agentic AI, custom ML models). Evaluate their applicability to business challenges and develop recommendations for strategic adoption.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including business analysts, product owners, and subject matter experts, to gather requirements and ensure successful implementation.
- Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for automation and AI solutions, including technical specifications, design documents, user guides, and training materials.
- Compliance and Standards: Ensure solutions adhere to industry best practices, data security and privacy regulations, and internal architecture and development standards.
Minimum Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in RPA development (e.g., UiPath, Microsoft Power Platform) and/or AI/ML solution development
- Proficiency in UiPath Studio, Orchestrator, Automation Hub, and relevant libraries
- Experience developing and deploying AI models, intelligent agents, or ML pipelines
- Strong understanding of automation and AI concepts, best practices, and methodologies
- Experience in integrating solutions with REST APIs and cloud platforms, especially Microsoft Azure and Oracle Cloud
- Strong experience with relational databases and proficiency in SQL or similar query languages
- Advanced debugging, testing, and problem-solving skills across development environments
- Familiarity with source control (e.g., GitLab) and CI/CD pipelines
- Experience with agile development practices using tools like Jira, Confluence, and Microsoft Teams
- Strong communication and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical teams
- Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with emerging technologies
- 10% domestic travel
Preferred Requirements
- Experience with general-purpose programming languages such as Python and/or Java
- Hands-on experience with LLMs, RAG pipelines, and agentic AI frameworks
- Experience with Microsoft Azure services (e.g., Azure Functions, Azure ML, Azure Logic Apps) or Oracle Cloud services
- Exposure to data engineering, data pipelines, or data warehousing methodologies

- Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent Experience Required

You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market position.
