DACK Consulting Solutions is a growing construction consulting firm supporting technically complex commercial projects throughout New York City. As we expand our NYC portfolio, we are seeking a MEP Estimator to lead mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection estimating efforts.
Position Overview
The Senior MEP Estimator will report directly to leadership and play a critical role in preconstruction and bid strategy. This role requires strong technical expertise, market awareness, and the ability to manage estimates from conceptual design through GMP and hard bid phases. You will collaborate with architects, engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, and operations teams to develop comprehensive, competitive, and risk-aware pricing models.
Key Responsibilities
Estimating & Bid Development
• Prepare detailed MEP estimates for HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and fire protection systems
• Perform quantity takeoffs and cost analysis from conceptual through construction documents
• Develop GMP and lump sum pricing packages
• Analyze drawings, specifications, and addenda to ensure full scope coverage
• Identify scope gaps, constructability concerns, and risk exposures
• Lead subcontractor and supplier pricing solicitation and leveling
• Coordinate long-lead equipment pricing strategies
Preconstruction & Strategy
• Support go/no-go decision-making with pricing analysis
• Develop value engineering and cost-reduction strategies
• Present estimate breakdowns and cost models to leadership
• Maintain and refine historical cost databases
• Assist with project turnover to operations upon award
Collaboration & Leadership
• Work closely with operations, project management, and business development
• Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits
• Support change order pricing and cost analysis
• Contribute to process improvements within the estimating function
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field
• 5+ years of MEP estimating experience within commercial construction
• Strong knowledge of NYC market pricing and logistics
• Experience developing GMP and hard bid pricing
• Proficiency with BlueBeam, On-Screen Takeoff, or comparable estimating tools
• Strong analytical, mathematical, and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple concurrent bids under tight deadlines
