Vice President of Business Development - Commercial HVAC Construction & Service - Dallas-Fort Worth
The Vice President of Business Development is a senior executive responsible for leading and executing the company's growth strategy. This individual will identify, develop, and close new business opportunities, expand our market share, and cultivate long-term, high-value relationships with key clients and strategic partners. The VP of Business Development will report directly to the CEO or President and be a key member of the executive leadership team as the company looks to continue their growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive business development strategy aligned with the company's revenue and profitability goals. Identify and analyze new market segments, geographical areas, and service offerings to drive sustainable growth.
- Lead the entire business development lifecycle, from lead generation and qualification to proposal development and contract negotiation. Maintain a robust pipeline of qualified opportunities and provide accurate forecasting to the executive team.
- Cultivate and maintain strong, long-term relationships with C-suite executives, general contractors, developers, architects, engineers, and end-users. Act as a brand ambassador for the company, attending industry events, conferences, and networking functions.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of business development managers and professionals. Set clear performance metrics, provide coaching, and foster a culture of accountability and success.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, competitor activities, and market shifts. Leverage this intelligence to inform our strategic decisions and identify competitive advantages.
- Oversee the development of compelling proposals, presentations, and marketing materials that effectively communicate our value proposition. Lead and participate in high-stakes client presentations and interviews.
- Work cross-functionally with the operations, engineering, and finance teams to ensure seamless project handoffs, client satisfaction, and profitability.
- Utilize CRM software and other tools to track business development activities, measure performance against goals, and provide regular reports to the executive team.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. An MBA or advanced degree is highly desirable.
- A minimum of 15+ years of progressive experience in business development, sales, or a related commercial role within the MEP, HVAC, construction, or building systems industries.
- Proven experience in a senior leadership role, with a track record of building and managing successful business development teams.
- Demonstrated history of consistently meeting or exceeding revenue targets and driving significant business growth.
- Exceptional verbal, written, and presentation skills. Must be an effective communicator and negotiator at all levels.
- An established network of contacts within the commercial construction and real estate development industries.
- A strong understanding of complex MEP and HVAC systems, design-build processes, and project delivery methods.
