🔥 About The Role
RectorSeal is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to serve as a key technical contact across multiple firestop product lines. This role supports both internal teams and external clients by providing expert guidance on product selection, installation, and engineering judgments for unique site conditions. Occasional onsite visits may be required to resolve complex field issues. This role will be based at our Houston Fire Test Lab, located in Central Houston, Texas. This will be a hybrid role requiring an on-site presence 3-4 times per week at the Lab or the Regional Houston office.
🧰 Responsibilities
Provide technical expertise and training focused on firestop products and applications
Act as a liaison between internal teams and external stakeholders (customers, distributors, contractors, inspectors)
Respond to technical inquiries from sales teams, distributors, and installers
Assist customers with product selection based on project requirements
Develop Engineering Judgments (EJs) for non-standard field conditions
Conduct jobsite visits to evaluate firestop applications and resolve issues
Support product certification efforts, including in-house testing and documentation
Troubleshoot firestop installation issues and identify root causes
Deliver training and technical support to internal staff and external customers
Stay current on firestop technologies, testing standards, building codes, and regulations
Conduct competitive analysis to support product development and market positioning
🎓 Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
BS in Mechanical Engineering
1 year of recent engineering experience
Preferred Qualifications
3 years of experience in the firestop industry (e.g., fire testing, installation, inspection)
5 years of experience in the construction industry
🛠Skills & Competencies
Ability to interpret technical drawings
Familiarity with AutoCAD or SolidWorks
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Passion for customer experience and problem solving
Excellent telephone and written communication skills
