Role Description This full-time, on-site Mechanical HVAC Design Engineer role is based in St Louis, MO. The Mechanical HVAC Design Engineer will be responsible for designing HVAC systems for commercial and industrial facilities, including load calculations, equipment selection, and layout in coordination with other building systems. Daily tasks include developing construction documents and specifications, producing and reviewing drawings in CAD/BIM platforms, and coordinating with architects, structural engineers, and other MEP disciplines to resolve design issues. The role will also involve designing or coordinating related plumbing systems, performing field surveys, attending project meetings, and supporting construction administration activities such as responding to RFIs and reviewing submittals. The engineer will collaborate with project teams to meet schedule, budget, and quality expectations while contributing to energy-efficient and sustainable design solutions.
Qualifications
- Strong HVAC-focused design skills, including HVAC and HVAC Design for commercial and industrial facilities.
- Foundational Mechanical Engineering knowledge applied to building systems, including system layout and integration.
- Proficiency in engineering Calculations for heating and cooling loads, ventilation, and equipment sizing.
- Experience or familiarity with Plumbing system design and coordination with mechanical and architectural elements.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline; EIT or PE licensure is preferred or willingness to obtain.
- Experience using CAD and BIM tools (e.g., AutoCAD, REVIT MEP) for building systems design and coordination.
- Knowledge of relevant mechanical, energy, and building codes and standards (e.g., IMC, ASHRAE, IECC).
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams and interact with clients and project partners.
