OverviewHVAC Technician – Lincoln University
At Thompson Facilites Services, service excellence is at the heart of everything we do. Our Facilities Services team is seeking a skilled HVAC Technician to support the daily maintenance and operation of HVAC systems across a college campus environment. This role is responsible for installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
Responsibilities- Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on HVAC equipment, including boilers, chillers, rooftop units, air handlers, and ventilation systems
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues using testing equipment and technical manuals
- Monitor building automation systems and adjust controls as needed
- Respond to emergency service calls and facility work orders in a timely manner
- Replace filters, belts, motors, thermostats, and other HVAC components
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and campus safety regulations
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs and equipment records
- Support seasonal campus projects and special events as needed
- Collaborate with facilities staff, contractors, and campus leadership to maintain operational efficiency
Qualifications- High school diploma or GED required
- HVAC certification or trade school training preferred
- EPA Universal Certification required
- 3+ years of HVAC maintenance and repair experience, preferably in commercial or institutional facilities
- Experience working with chillers, boilers, BAS systems, and refrigeration equipment preferred
- Strong troubleshooting and customer service skills
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals
- Valid driver’s license may be required
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders, bend, stoop, kneel, and lift up to 50 pounds regularly
- Ability to work in mechanical rooms, rooftops, crawl spaces, and outdoor environments in varying weather conditions
- Must be comfortable using hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment
- Ability to respond to emergency calls during evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed
