REPORTS TO: VP, Facilities & Special Projects
STATUS: Full-Time; Exempt
Your role as Facilities Project Manager:
You will be responsible for managing all phases of capital and operational projects across Petco Park, a 1.5 million square foot facility. This position works closely with internal departments and external partners to deliver projects that enhance the ballpark, improve system reliability, and support exceptional guest experiences.
All the responsibilities we will trust you with:
Project Management
- Lead all phases of project delivery including planning, design, permitting, procurement, construction, and closeout
- Develop and manage project scopes, budgets, schedules, and execution strategies
- Coordinate architects, engineers, consultants, contractors, and vendors
- Monitor construction progress, quality, safety, and compliance
- Ensure projects are completed in accordance with City of San Diego, State of California, and Federal requirements, including Indoor Air Quality, Life Safety, ADA, and all applicable codes
Event & Operational Support
- Provide manager-level support during baseball games, concerts, and special events
- Coordinate all project work with the ballpark event calendar to minimize operational disruption
- Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, Security, Guest Experience, Special Events, and Food & Beverage teams to ensure seamless execution
Financial & Contract Management
- Manage project budgets, cost controls, and financial forecasting
- Support RFP development, bid processes, and contract administration
- Track change orders, pay applications, and project financials
- Provide regular reporting to leadership on project status and financial performance
Environmental Health & Safety (EHS)
- Oversee EHS compliance across all assigned projects
- Ensure adherence to OSHA standards and internal safety policies
- Monitor contractor safety performance and incident reporting
- Support safety documentation, reporting, and continuous improvement efforts
Facility & Engineering Integration
- Coordinate with Engineering on projects impacting building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, central plant, BMS, elevators/escalators, and life safety systems
- Apply working knowledge of MEP systems fundamentals to support project success
- Align projects with preventative maintenance strategies and asset lifecycle planning
- Align projects with lifecycle planning and long-term maintenance planning projections
Energy & Sustainability
- Support energy management initiatives and system optimization efforts
- Recommend and implement energy-efficient designs and solutions in all projects
- Contribute to sustainability initiatives including waste diversion and resource efficiency
Project Controls & Reporting
- Maintain project documentation including drawings, permits, and approvals
- Track project schedules, risks, and performance metrics
- Deliver clear and concise updates to leadership and stakeholders

- Experience in professional sports or large public assembly venues a plus
- Familiarity with building automation systems and energy management platforms preferred
- Experience with sustainability programs (LEED, energy efficiency, zero waste initiatives) preferred
- PMP or other construction/facilities industry certifications are a plus
- Fluently bilingual in English/Spanish a plus
You will be required to meet the following:
- Must be at least 18 years of age by the start of employment
- 4-year Bachelor’s Degree in Construction, Facilities, Engineering, Architecture, or related field
- 5-8 years of project management experience in construction, commercial facilities, or sports and entertainment venues
- Working knowledge of building MEP systems fundamentals
- Strong knowledge of construction practices, contracts, budgeting, and scheduling
- Experience managing contractors and vendors in complex environments
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast paced, event driven setting
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management tools
- Able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, holidays and extended hours as needed, including baseball games and special events
- Able to travel as needed
- Minimum physical requirements: able to travel to and gain access to various areas of the ballpark for prolonged periods of time during games and events; able to lift and transport at minimum 25 pounds; able to stand, walk, climb stairs/ladders and access confined spaces (roofs, crawl spaces, mechanical rooms) regularly
- As a condition of employment, you must successfully complete all post-offer, pre-employment requirements, including but not limited to a background check
Salary and additional compensation:
Per the California pay transparency law, the base salary range for this full-time position is $90,000 to $120,000. As a candidate for this position, your salary and related elements of compensation will be contingent upon your work experience, education, job-related skills and any other factors the San Diego Padres considers relevant to the hiring decision for this position.
