This individual will be responsible for accurately analyzing drawings, specifications, and related documents to develop complete and competitive project estimates. The ideal candidate brings strong technical knowledge of HVAC systems, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze construction drawings, specifications, and addenda for HVAC scope and prepare comprehensive cost estimates
- Solicit and evaluate vendor/supplier pricing and material takeoffs
- Prepare proposals, budgets, and bid documentation for internal and external use
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and sales staff to ensure alignment on project scope and design intent
- Track and update historical cost data for future use and continuous improvement
- Assist in value engineering and identifying cost-saving alternatives
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in HVAC estimating
- Proficiency in reading mechanical plans, specifications, and related construction documents
- Strong working knowledge of HVAC materials, equipment, and labor
- Experience using estimating software (e.g., Quick Bid, Bluebeam, Excel, or equivalent tools)
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Ability to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities
- Experience estimating in commercial, institutional, or industrial HVAC environments
- Familiarity with local competitors
- Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent field experience)
