Job Title: Junior/Mid-level Project Engineer

Engage Client customers to support the identification of energy savings opportunities in commercial and industrial buildings in the Client Gas and/or Electric territories. Customers may then elect to participate in one of the subprograms and submit application(s) to obtain incentives for energy savings opportunities. Engineering services team will review these applications, verify energy savings, and make recommendations to program leadership to approve payments of incentives to customers.
Tasks that will be performed:
- Interact with facility engineers/building managers to motivate them to implement energy efficiency upgrades in existing buildings
- Perform customer focused, site-specific engineering analysis and evaluation of energy efficiency opportunities to ensure the validity of proposed energy conservation measures that are not listed on the prescriptive applications. Such measures may include commercial/industrial lighting, HVAC, controls, process equipment, and any other energy saving measures
- Review and verify technical merits of business customer energy efficiency applications, including calculation of energy savings and verification of equipment specifications. Such review will be in accordance with Client’s practices.
- Conduct customer site inspections. Team must be able to conduct audits, up to and including ASHRAE Level 3 audits, which may be assigned at the direction of Client
- Plan and deliver presentations at meetings and training events
- Support other programs as directed by Client
Required Qualifications:
- 0-5 years of work experience in HVAC design, energy engineering, or similar consulting engineering work.
- Understanding of one or multiple segments of building systems (mechanical, electrical, plumbing, architectural, structural)
- Ability to interface with customers and contractors.
- Host and prepare training materials and presentations
- Project management
- Demonstrated excellence in communication (written and oral) in English.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Site visits will require physical activity for extended periods of time, including but not limited to, standing, walking with occasional, climbing, kneeling, and related field work as required. Field work may require exposure to indoor and outdoor environmental conditions. This may or may not include extreme temperatures. Follow safety and health policies for site visits.
- Will travel within Client’s territory and must have reliable transportation.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
- Responsible for maintenance and fees of the transportation vehicle.
Experience & Education Minimums:
- 1-5 years of work experience in HVAC design, energy engineering, or similar consulting engineering work. (Junior 1-3 years of experience and Mid-level 3-5 years of experience)
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Architectural Engineering. Other degrees may be considered with applicable work experience.
