Title: Project Manager/Estimator
Employment Status: Full-time, salary
Summary
The HVAC Project Manager/Estimator is responsible for estimating commercial HVAC projects, evaluating bid opportunities, managing awarded projects, and serving as a key communication link between field operations, general contractors, and vendors. This position requires deep technical knowledge, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage projects from pre-bid through closeout.
Essential Job Functions & Duties
Estimating & Pre-Construction
Review and interpret blueprints, specifications, schedules, and all associated bid documents.
Evaluate project scope, feasibility, risks, and timelines to determine bidding potential.
Calculate commercial duct sizing using ductulators and manual sizing techniques.
Prepare accurate labor and material takeoffs using blueprints and job walk data.
Identify equipment, material, and manpower requirements based on the estimate.
Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes.
Prepare and submit detailed proposals that reflect project scope and customer expectations.
Project Management
Serve as the primary point of contact for General Contractors and project stakeholders.
Coordinate project schedules, procurement, installation sequencing, and manpower needs.
Oversee field execution to ensure compliance with design intent, timeline, and budget.
Conduct site visits, monitor progress, and address field or design issues as needed.
Manage change orders, documentation, and project communication.
Work closely with technicians to ensure proper layout and installation per plan.
Communication & Collaboration
Communicate clearly and professionally with internal teams, GC partners, subcontractors, and vendors.
Participate in pre-bid meetings, job walks, and project coordination meetings.
Provide technical support and direction to field teams.
Maintain organized records, documentation, and project files
Requirements
Minimum 10 years of experience in the commercial HVAC industry.
Minimum 5 years serving as a Foreman, Estimator, or Project Manager for commercial HVAC projects.
Strong proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and bid documents.
Ability to evaluate bid potential based on scope, timeline, and feasibility.
Strong understanding of duct design, layout, and related mechanical systems.
Ability to read a ductulator and accurately calculate commercial duct sizing.
Proven background in performing accurate material and labor estimates.
Ability to assess project needs and materials directly from the bid documents.
Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to collaborate effectively with GCs, vendors, and internal teams.
Ability to lift more than 50 lbs and work efficiently within a construction environment.
Comfortable conducting site visits, climbing ladders, and navigating active job sites.
Work schedule is 7 am-4 pm - Monday-Friday
Clean driving record, vehicle is provided
