Role DescriptionWe are seeking a Commercial HVAC Estimator to join our estimating and project management team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for HVAC construction projects, including new installations, retrofits, and service upgrades.
This role requires deep knowledge of HVAC systems, mechanical design principles, and commercial project scopes. You’ll collaborate closely with general contractors, engineers, and our internal team to deliver estimates that are both detailed and cost-effective.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review project drawings, specifications, and scope documents to prepare accurate cost estimates.
- Perform detailed takeoffs of HVAC systems, ductwork, piping, and equipment.
- Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes.
- Collaborate with project managers and engineers to develop value-driven solutions.
- Prepare bid proposals and participate in project turnover meetings.
- Track material costs, labor rates, and market trends to maintain accurate pricing databases.
- Support business development efforts with technical and pricing expertise.
QualificationsRequired:
- 3–5 years of direct experience in HVAC estimating (commercial/industrial focus).
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, blueprints, and construction documents.
- Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Excel.
- Solid communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously under tight deadlines.
Preferred:
- Experience with design-build or plan/spec projects.
- Familiarity with Texas commercial construction markets.
- Background in project management or field experience in HVAC installation.
