Commercial Mechanical Project Engineer
Responsibilities
As a commercial mechanical project engineer, your role involves overseeing the planning, selling, implementation, and completion of commercial mechanical projects for high-end residential homes, commercial, and industrial buildings. You would be working with boiler system design, chiller design, cooling tower design, domestic hot water design, HVAC design/build, and refrigeration system design. Here are some key responsibilities and tasks you might handle:
- Project Planning and Scoping:
âDevelop commercial project plans including timelines, milestones, and resources required.
âCoordinate with clients, architects, engineers, and contractors to define project scope and objectives.
âBuild and maintain relationships with key decision-makers, such as facility managers, property owners, and building engineers.
â Serve as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the project.
â Provide regular updates on project progress, milestones, and any issues that may affect timelines or budget.
â Oversee the sales process from initial customer contact through installation, ensuring customer satisfaction at every stage.
âCollaborate closely with our Field Supervisor to ensure projects are scoped accurately and executed efficiently.
â Estimate project costs and prepare budgets.
â Monitor expenditures and ensure projects are completed within budgetary constraints.
â Ensure compliance with building codes, regulations, and safety standards.
â Conduct inspections and quality checks to verify work meets specifications.
â Ability to effectively read and understand mechanical plans and specification
â Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies.
â Address issues and conflicts that arise during project execution.
- Market and Industry Knowledge:
âStay informed about industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes affecting mechanical systems.
âPosition yourself as a trusted advisor by providing insights and recommendations based on industry expertise.
- Documentation and Reporting:
â Maintain accurate project documentation, including contracts, permits, and change orders.
â Prepare reports for stakeholders, summarizing project status, costs, and outcomes.
â Conduct post-project reviews to identify lessons learned and areas for improvement.
â Ensure completion of any outstanding tasks, documentation (manuals, reports, etc.), or client deliverables.
Qualifications
âEngineering degree
ÂMinimum Of 5 Years Experience
âStrong organizational skills
âTechnical knowledge of commercial mechanical systems
âEffective communication abilities
âBeing able to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high standards of quality and client satisfaction
