Description
Perform various skilled work in the operation, maintenance, diagnostic, repair, adjustment, and alteration of HVAC systems.
Examples of Duties
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (The following examples are illustrative and are not intended to be all-inclusive.)
- Diagnosis of HVAC equipment failures.
- Performs all HVAC equipment preventative maintenance.
- Performs repairs on HVAC equipment, including boilers, air handlers, DX systems, chillers, and numerous other types of HVAC and refrigeration systems.
- Installs HVAC and building automation systems and equipment.
- Installs ductwork, low voltage controls, gas piping, and ventilation systems.
- Responsible for rough-in and final trim of new systems.
- Performs building automation preventative maintenance.
- Responds to and investigates complaints of malfunctioning building comfort control equipment.
- Monitor building efficiencies to include indoor air quality and energy use.
- Respond to after-hours or emergency calls outside of regular scheduled or business hours.
- Remodels existing systems. (Senior)
- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
HVAC Technician:
- A high school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Three (3) years of professional journey-level HVAC experience.
- A combination of education and experience may be considered.
Senior HVAC Technician:
- A high school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Five (5) years of professional HVAC experience.
- A combination of education and experience may be considered.
Certifications, Licenses, & Registrations:
- Must possess a valid Colorado Driver’s License upon hire, with complying insurance. A review of motor vehicle records is required at the time of hire and periodically throughout employment.
- This position requires the successful completion of a criminal background check, including fingerprinting through a national database.
HVAC Technician:
- Must possess an EPA approved Federal Refrigerant II certification.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a Federal Universal Refrigeration License within 90 days of employment.
Senior HVAC Technician:
- Must possess a Federal Universal Refrigeration License.
