Job Purpose Summary
This position is responsible for overseeing the installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC systems across the District. This position is also responsible for the coordination of work projects, supervising HVAC personnel, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
Key Functions, Essential Duties, And Responsibilities
Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning (HVAC):
- Coordinates and schedules HVAC work projects across all District campuses to ensure timely and efficient completion of maintenance and repair tasks.
- Serves as the primary point of contact for HVAC-related emergencies, ensuring 24/7 availability to address urgent issues efficiently.
- Works collaboratively with other divisions, such as electrical, plumbing, and maintenance teams, to ensure seamless integration of HVAC services with other District operations.
- Conducts inspections of buildings and equipment to evaluate the performance, repairs, and maintenance needs of HVAC systems, ensuring proper functionality.
- Inspects and maintains District vehicles used by HVAC personnel, ensuring they are in good working condition and meet safety standards.
- Manages the ordering of materials and coordinates maintenance programs, ensuring that all necessary supplies are available for ongoing HVAC projects.
- Assists in the planning of work projects, contributing to the development of maintenance schedules and long-term operational strategies for HVAC systems.
- Establishes and oversees preventive maintenance programs, ensuring that all HVAC systems are regularly serviced to prevent malfunctions and extend equipment lifespan.
- Ensures compliance with safety regulations, assisting with the enforcement of District safety protocols and OSHA guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.
- Handles emergency call-outs for HVAC-related issues, providing timely responses to system malfunctions and breakdowns across District facilities.
- Assists other personnel as needed, offering support to other maintenance teams or departments to address complex repairs or operational challenges.
- Provides leadership and guidance to HVAC personnel, ensuring the team is properly trained, equipped, and supervised to carry out tasks efficiently and in line with District standards.
- Coordinates with and evaluates contractor performance, ensuring that external contractors working on HVAC projects meet District specifications, safety standards, and quality expectations.
- Monitors and tracks energy efficiency of HVAC systems, identifying opportunities for energy-saving initiatives and optimizing performance to reduce operational costs and enhance sustainability.
- Assists in developing and updating HVAC policies and procedures, ensuring all operations align with District requirements and are performed in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Stays informed on technological advancements in HVAC systems, equipment, and software, incorporating new technologies and best practices to improve system reliability and efficiency.
- Oversees the planning and execution of HVAC system upgrades, ensuring upgrades and replacements are completed with minimal disruption to school operations while improving system performance.
- Acts as a technical resource, providing expertise to troubleshoot complex HVAC issues and guiding the team in implementing effective solutions.
Compliance
- Performs all assigned work activities in accordance with standard procedures and protocols established by thedistrict's Maintenance Department, ensuring compliance with all applicable standards, codes, and regulations.This includes adherence to guidelines set forth by the Texas Education Agency, Environmental Protection Agency(EPA), Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, Texas Energy Code, Texas Administrative Code, TexasHealth and Safety Code, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Americans with Disabilities Act(ADA), and National Electrical Code. Ensures that all HVAC-related work meets safety, operational, andenvironmental requirements while maintaining district-wide HVAC systems in compliance with these governingregulations.
- Demonstrates and maintains relevant and up-to-date advanced working knowledge and understanding of safetycompliance, environmental responsibility, energy efficiency, accessibility, and all other applicable requirementsand standards relevant to the job function.
- Monitors respective work activity, and the work activity of others, for variances and anomalies.
- Identifies and timely reports any known or suspected compliance issues to appropriate personnel.
- Assists with audits and the preparation for audits, whether initiated internally or externally, as assigned.
- Adheres to all other District wide policies and procedures including, but not limited to, human resources, safety,and emergency protocols.
General

- Assists department leadership in the compilation of miscellaneous confidential reports.
- Attends departmental and organizational meetings, as required.

- Demonstrates advanced working knowledge and understanding in the proper usage and maintenance of tools,equipment, and materials necessary for carrying out all essential duties and responsibilities relating to the repair,maintenance, and servicing of HVAC systems.
- Demonstrates advanced working knowledge and understanding of building automation systems, energymanagement systems, computerized maintenance management systems, technical drawing and diagramsoftware, remote monitoring tools, Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint, Google Shared applicationsto include Google Sheets, Google Docs, and Google Slides, as well as other systems and applications relevant tothe job function.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education, Experience & Credential Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent GED
- Two years of experience working in a same or similar capacity
- One year of supervisory and leadership experience; or
- An equivalent combination of education and work experience
- Active, In Good Standing, and Duly obtained Section 608 Technician Certification through the United StatesEnvironmental Protection Agency
- Active, Valid, and In Good Standing Texas Driver's License
