HVAC/MEP Project Manager
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced HVAC/MEP Project Manager to lead commercial mechanical, electrical, and plumbing projects from preconstruction through closeout. The ideal candidate will manage HVAC construction, coordinate MEP disciplines, oversee building automation systems (BAS) and HVAC controls, ensure quality and safety, control budgets and schedules, and serve as the primary client and subcontractor contact to deliver projects on time and within scope.
Key Responsibilities- Lead end-to-end project management for commercial HVAC and MEP construction projects, including preconstruction, procurement, construction, commissioning, and closeout.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, cash flow forecasts, and progress reporting to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.
- Coordinate and manage subcontractors, vendors, and internal trades for Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing scopes to maintain project continuity and quality.
- Oversee installation and testing of HVAC systems, controls, and Building Automation Systems (BAS); validate system performance and ensure proper commissioning.
- Review and manage submittals, RFIs, change orders, and contract documents; ensure alignment with specifications and client requirements.
- Perform constructability reviews and provide technical guidance on HVAC construction methods, equipment selection, and MEP integration.
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards and regulations, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, energy, and safety requirements.
- Implement and enforce site safety programs and quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) processes throughout the project lifecycle.
- Serve as the primary client contact for project communications, status updates, meetings, and issue resolution.
- Collaborate with design teams, engineers, and commissioning agents to resolve technical issues and optimize system performance.
- Utilize project management and collaboration tools (e.g., MS Project, Procore, BIM/Revit) to track progress, documentation, and deliverables.
- Prepare and present project closeout documentation, warranties, as-built drawings, and operation and maintenance manuals to clients.
Qualifications- Bachelors degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
- 7+ years of progressive experience managing commercial HVAC/MEP projects, with proven success delivering medium to large-scale construction projects.
- Deep knowledge of HVAC systems, HVAC construction practices, HVAC controls, BAS/Building Automation Systems, and MEP coordination.
- Experience with commercial building projects and working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems integration.
- Strong understanding of codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., ASHRAE, NEC, local mechanical/plumbing codes) and commissioning best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to manage project budgets, schedules, subcontractors, and change management processes.
- Excellent leadership, communication, client-facing, and interpersonal skills; ability to lead multi-discipline teams and build strong client relationships.
- Proficiency with project software such as MS Project, Procore, and exposure to BIM/Revit is a plus.
- PMP certification, Professional Engineer (PE), or commissioning credentials are a plus.
- OSHA 30 certification or equivalent safety training preferred, and valid drivers license for site travel.
