Our HVAC/R Service Technicians play an integral part in our ability to bring quality service to our clients’ facilities. Technicians are responsible for the troubleshooting, diagnosis, repair, maintenance and installation of HVAC and related equipment as assigned per manager and according to contractual commitments between QuesTec and client. Daily coordination of activities, routes and projects are expected to be accomplished both efficiently and effectively. QuesTec Service Technicians are primary contact with the client and are expected to always represent QuesTec with utmost professionalism. This is a full-time, hourly position reporting to the Service Manager.
PRIMARY DUTIES
· Expertly installs, repairs, maintains or replaces heating, cooling systems, ventilation, refrigeration and or component parts according to requirements
· Travels to job sites in service area and work closely with Dispatcher to ensure client schedule is maintained to the best of the Service Tech’s ability
· Reviews work schedule daily to adhere to and optimize work hours
· Follows systematic questioning techniques and troubleshooting guidelines to determine unit/equipment functionality and/or failure
· Accurately communicates unit/equipment issues to manager and clients
· Provides guidance and education to Service Techs I, when appropriate
· Promptly and accurately completes all required paperwork daily, documenting in detail all work performed and/or installed as well as all time associated with calls/projects
· Available for on-call rotation always
· Available to service emergency calls on weekdays, weeknights and weekends, as needed
SECONDARY DUTIES
· Maintains vehicle and tools weekly, keeping equipment clean and ready for work
· Stays abreast of industry trends and Company-specific procedures to further OTJ knowledge
· Communicates with Dispatcher to mitigate scheduling conflicts and delays
· Maintains positive and proactive communication with clients
· Actively seeks opportunities to enhance client systems
· Provides Sales with qualified leads and alerts Sales to competitive sales efforts
· Provides guidance and work direction to HVAC Service Technicians I, when appropriate
· Participate in meetings, workshops, training and seminars as required
· Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
· Minimum of two years of experience in installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and correcting a diverse array of HVAC service issues
· Knowledge of commercial mechanical and electrical systems
· Strong analytical skills with the ability to read and interpret diagrams, plans and manuals
· Attention to detail and quality of work performed
· Ability to work independently, with excellent time management skills
· Good communications skills, both written and verbal
· Good organizational skills
REQUIREMENTS
· Minimum of a high school diploma or GED; Associates degree from accredited technical school in the HVAC program preferred
· HVAC Journeyman’s license
· EPA certification
· Well-groomed, neat appearance
· Valid class D driver’s license and clean driving record
· Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle
· Valid social security number
· Observe and abide by all Company procedures and safety rules
· Ability to work and interact with others in a positive manner
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
· Ability to lift up to 75 pounds on own
· Ability to push, pull, carry and maneuver heavy items (with additional manpower or appropriate tools)
· Ability to lift ladders from vehicle racks, carry and climb ladders up to 28’ in length
· Ability to withstand long periods of standing, squatting, stooping and crawling (stationary positions up to 50% of time)
· Ability to feel, grasp, operate and position items with fingers and hands
· Ability to effectively perform work at ground level, above ground level, below ground level and in confined spaces
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The employee is regularly exposed to moderate levels of heat, cold, moisture, wind and sun. The noise level in the work environment is low with an occasional exposure to moderate levels.
