The
Director, Sales for
Rheem Northeast Distribution (RND) is responsible for leading sales strategy and driving profitable revenue growth across HVAC and water heating product lines within a wholesale distribution environment. This role develops high-performing sales teams, strengthens customer and dealer relationships, and executes go-to-market strategies that expand market share while aligning with manufacturer partners and operational capabilities. This position reports to the President of Rheem Northeast Distribution.
Responsibilities
Sales Strategy & Execution
- Develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy for HVAC, plumbing, and water heating products across assigned territories.
- Drive top-line growth, margin improvement, and market share gains through disciplined sales execution.
- Establish annual sales plans, quotas, and forecasts aligned with company financial goals.
- Leverage pricing strategy, rebate programs, and promotions to maximize profitability.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of sales managers, outside sales representatives, and inside sales teams.
- Manage and develop RND’s Product Technical Support & Training team as a driver of customer value and competitive differentiation
- Build a performance-driven sales culture with clear expectations, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with HR and sales managers to recruit, onboard, and retain top sales talent.
- Provide ongoing training in product knowledge, sales process, customer segmentation, and value-based selling.
Customer & Market Management
- Strengthen relationships with key accounts, high-volume contractors, dealers, and commercial customers.
- Serve as executive sponsor for strategic customers and large projects.
- Monitor competitive landscape, market trends, and customer needs to adapt sales approach.
- Partner with marketing to support brand positioning, programs, and customer engagement initiatives.
Manufacturer & Partner Collaboration
- Collaborate with OEM partners and service vendors to align on product strategy, inventory planning, training, and growth initiatives while maximizing cooperative advertising dollars and market development funds.
- Support new product introductions and ensure effective field adoption.
- Participate in joint business planning with strategic suppliers.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner closely with Operations, Purchasing, Finance, and Human Resources Leadership to ensure flawless execution on strategic and sales initiatives.
- Ensure sales efforts align with inventory strategy, market positioning, and overall company goals.
- Utilize CRM and sales analytics to track performance, pipeline health, and customer trends.

Qualifications
- 10+ years of progressive sales leadership experience in HVAC, plumbing, water heating, or building products distribution.
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proven success leading multi-location or regional sales teams within a wholesale distribution model.
- Strong understanding of contractor-based sales, channel management, and manufacturer-led programs.
- Demonstrated ability to drive profitable growth in competitive markets.
- Experience with CRM, ERP systems and sales analytics.
- Demonstrated ability to work well with others is a matrix team environment.
- Strong analytical and reasoning skills.
- Proficient computer skills and in-depth knowledge of relevant software such as MS Office Suite.
- No travel restrictions; must be available for frequent travel across the Northeast and broader U.S.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or related field with a Masters degree preferred.

Equivalent combination of education, experience, and skills may supplement above minimum job requirements.
The pay scale for this position $154,900 - $284,148. Please note all pay ranges are broadly stated and any final offer is dependent on factors such as location, direct experience, market guidance and internal equity, among other qualifying criteria.
