Position Overview
As a Service Estimator II - HVAC, you'll play a key role in the Service Department by preparing timely, accurate, and profitable pricing and job costing for HVAC service, repair, and replacement projects. You will leverage your technical knowledge of HVAC equipment and repair methods to develop competitive estimates, ensure compliance with contracting requirements, and support strong customer relationships. This mid-level role requires a balance of technical understanding, attention to detail, and collaboration with technicians, vendors, and customers in a fast-paced service environment.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate and profitable pricing breakouts and job costing for a wide variety of HVAC service, repair, and replacement projects.
- Review job site findings, service requests, and technician input to develop detailed estimates for equipment, materials, and labor.
- Ensure all proposals, pricing documents, and estimates are 100% compliant with existing contracting requirements and company standards.
- Collaborate with Service Technicians, Service Managers, and vendors to gather necessary information and refine estimates.
- Assist with unit replacement quotes and larger service projects, including walking jobs when needed to assess scope.
- Maintain strong internal and external relationships with staff, vendors, and customers through clear communication and responsive support.
- Utilize Outlook, Word, and Excel proficiently to create professional proposals and maintain accurate records.
- Support the Service Department with flexible multitasking as priorities shift quickly in a dynamic service environment.
- Continuously improve estimating accuracy by staying current with HVAC equipment, materials, repair methods, and market pricing.
Supervisory Responsibilities
None (individual contributor role with significant collaboration across the Service team).
Requirements/Qualifications
- Experience: 3–6 years of experience in HVAC service estimating, project coordination, or a related technical role within the mechanical service industry.
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; technical training or associate degree in HVAC, mechanical systems, or a related field preferred.
- Certifications/Licenses: Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required; EPA 608 certification a plus.
- Physical Demands: Primarily office-based with occasional job-site visits for estimate walks; ability to walk active sites and lift light materials as needed.
- Work Environment/Safety: Professional office with hybrid options and occasional active job sites; must adhere to safety protocols and wear required PPE when on-site—safety is our top priority and non-negotiable. This is a safety-sensitive position.
