Job Summary
The Commercial HVAC Working Supervisor / Estimator is a hands-on leadership role responsible for actively performing commercial HVAC installation and service work while supervising field crews and supporting estimating activities. This position requires a balance of technical expertise, leadership, and strong estimating skills.
Job Functions & Responsibilities
Hands-On Field Supervision
Assign daily tasks and manage crew productivity and workflow.
Perform commercial HVAC installation and service alongside field crews as required.
Lead and supervise technicians and installers on active job sites.
Provide technical support to field technicians.
Bring an understanding of mechanical systems and the installation process.
Ensure work is completed according to plans, specifications, manufacturer requirements, and applicable codes.
Coordinate material deliveries, equipment, and manpower allocation.
Coordinate jobsite activities with general contractors, inspectors, and other trades.
Communicate directly with customers, building owners, suppliers and internal office and co-workers.
Identify and prioritize goals, daily tasks, and schedule.
Monitor progress, resolve job-site issues, and keep projects on schedule and within quality standards.
Identify and resolve field issues, installation conflicts, and schedule challenges to minimize delays and cost overruns.
Communicate progress, delays, and jobsite needs to management.
Enforce company safety policies and OSHA standards while working in the field.
Keep current with the current HVAC training, products, and trends.
Assist in the hiring and training of new and existing technicians.
Estimating Support
Participate in job site evaluations for upcoming commercial HVAC projects.
Review drawings and specifications to determine scope of work and installation requirements.
Prepare cost estimates, material takeoffs, and labor projections.
Contact vendors for equipment quotes and evaluate quotes as received, communicate duct and piping takeoff needs, and present estimates to office for write up.
Offer value engineering opportunities based on industry knowledge and prior experience.
Offer design/build capability to clients, either direct through building owners or through general contractors.
Bid projects at appropriate margins and labor hours.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
HVAC certification or associates degrees from a trade school or college.
EPA Universal Certification required.
20+ years of experience in commercial HVAC or construction, including supervisory experience.
Prior estimating experience.
Technical Skills
Solid understanding of HVAC systems and general construction practices.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and complex mechanical systems for commercial buildings.

Pay: $62,400.00 - $75,920.00 per year
