About Our Department
The General Services Department consists of several divisions in different locations throughout the City. The Facilities Projects Division manages new construction, additions, and alterations of City-owned buildings and parks. The Maintenance Division oversees the maintenance and janitorial services of City-owned structures and properties.
General Services HVAC Technician Position Overview
This is journey level commercial and industrial heating, ventilation, and air conditioning work performing maintenance, repair, and installation work on facilities and equipment. Work involves performing HVAC repair, maintenance, and installation work on buildings and machinery in City owned facilities, parks, and recreational buildings.
Qualifications And Necessary Special Requirements
High school diploma or GED certificate; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience and a minimum of four years of work experience in the HVAC trade as a journeyman technician.
Possession of journeymen level certification.
Possession of a valid driver's license.
Must pass the written portion of the CDL, Class B Endorsement test within six (6) months of hire and/or promotion date.
Must pass the driving test and obtain a valid CDL, Class B Endorsement within eleven (11) months of hire and/or promotion date.
May require possession of a Freon certification card approved by the Environmental Protection Agency depending on job assignments.
Must participate in on-call emergency rotation.
