Mechanical Engineer – Building Systems (HVAC / MEP)
Location: Minneapolis, MN (Hybrid)
An established building systems engineering consulting firm is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join its Minneapolis-based team. This role focuses on the design and coordination of HVAC and mechanical systems for commercial, institutional, healthcare, and industrial facilities. You’ll work closely with architects, owners, and internal project teams to deliver high-quality, efficient, and sustainable building solutions.

Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop HVAC and mechanical systems for new construction and renovation projects
- Prepare construction documents, calculations, specifications, and reports
- Perform load calculations, equipment selections, and system layouts
- Coordinate designs with architectural, electrical, plumbing, and structural teams
- Participate in client meetings and design coordination discussions
- Support construction administration, including RFIs, submittals, and site visits
- Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and energy requirements
- Mentor junior engineers and designers as experience allows
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- 3–10+ years of experience in mechanical/HVAC design within an MEP consulting environment
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, energy codes, and building standards
- Proficiency with Revit and AutoCAD
- Experience with load calculation and energy modeling software (e.g., Trane Trace, HAP, or similar)
- PE license or EIT strongly preferred (or on track to obtain)
- Excellent communication and coordination skills
