Overview
The MEP Manager will oversee all Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing systems for a high‑performance data center environment. This role is ideal for a technically strong leader who thrives in fast‑paced, mission‑critical facilities and has hands‑on experience with commissioning, testing, and managing complex infrastructure systems. The MEP Manager will ensure all systems are installed, tested, and maintained to the highest standards of reliability and uptime.
Key Responsibilities
Project & Scope Management
- Lead and manage the full MEP scope of work across construction, commissioning, and operational phases.
- Coordinate with general contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders to ensure alignment on project deliverables.
- Review design documents, submittals, and change orders to maintain technical accuracy and project integrity.
- Track progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies to keep projects on schedule and within budget.
Testing & Commissioning
- Oversee and execute L2–L4 testing for all MEP systems, ensuring compliance with commissioning plans and industry standards.
- Validate system performance, reliability, and integration across mechanical and electrical systems.
- Manage documentation, test scripts, and reporting for all commissioning activities.
- Support root‑cause analysis and corrective actions for any deficiencies identified during testing.
Electrical Systems Oversight
- Manage installation, testing, and maintenance of critical electrical infrastructure including:
- UPS systems
- Switchgear and switches
- Power distribution units (PDUs)
- Generators and backup systems
- Ensure all electrical systems meet redundancy, safety, and uptime requirements for mission‑critical operations.
Mechanical & Plumbing Systems
- Oversee HVAC, cooling systems, CRAC/CRAH units, chillers, pumps, and related mechanical equipment.
- Ensure proper integration of mechanical and electrical systems to support data center thermal performance.
- Manage plumbing systems related to cooling, water treatment, and facility operations.
Operational Excellence
- Maintain strict adherence to safety protocols, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
- Develop and maintain documentation including SOPs, MOPs, EOPs, and maintenance logs.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system reliability and operational efficiency.
- Train and mentor junior engineers and technicians.
Qualifications
- Must have previous Data Center project experience
- 7+ years of MEP experience, with at least 3 years in data center environments.
- Proven experience performing and managing L2–L4 testing for mission‑critical systems.
- Strong background with UPS systems, switchgear, and electrical distribution equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex scopes of work and coordinate multidisciplinary teams.
- Deep understanding of commissioning processes, electrical and mechanical systems, and data center operational requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field preferred.
