Area Leader / Branch President – Western NC & VA Region
Locations: Asheville, NC · Lebanon, VA (Western NC / Tri-Cities area)
P&L Responsibility: ~$15M and growing
Reports To: Group 1 President
We’re looking for a hands-on, people-first leader to oversee two high-performing HVAC branches — one in Asheville, NC and another in Lebanon, VA — while expanding our footprint across the Western NC / Tri-Cities corridor.
Asheville has historically been a project-based business, but we’re steering it toward a stronger service and retrofit focus with huge growth potential. Lebanon, on the other hand, is a well-established service operation supporting the greater Lebanon, Bristol, and Blacksburg markets.
The ideal candidate will be based in or near Asheville, managing both markets and building strong “second-in-command” leaders at each branch. Asheville’s Sr. Project Leader (current #2) is nearing retirement, and Lebanon will need a comparable service-side counterpart.
The Role
- Lead and develop multiple HVAC service and project-based branches.
- Drive a culture of high performance, safety, accountability, and teamwork.
- Partner with service managers and technicians to improve quality and coaching outcomes.
- Build annual business plans, setting clear goals for revenue, profit, and ROI.
- Monitor and manage P&L performance — pricing, costs, margin control, customer retention, and expense discipline.
- Identify and pursue regional growth opportunities — service contracts, retrofit projects, and organic expansion.
- Ensure operational excellence across scheduling, safety, and financial reporting.
- Collaborate with HR and Accounting to maintain accurate staffing, onboarding, and financial accuracy.
- Foster transparent communication across teams and with customers.
What You Bring
- 7–10+ years in HVAC/mechanical services (commercial & industrial).
- 3–5+ years leading teams or managing service operations.
- Deep understanding of service and retrofit business models.
- Proven experience with P&L ownership and forecasting.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills — you run toward problems, not from them.
- Track record of developing talent, improving processes, and building teams that win together.
- Comfortable in Microsoft Office (especially Excel).
- Known for jobsite safety and operational discipline.
