Job Title: Mechanical Estimator

Location: Charlotte, NC area OR Zebulon, NC area.
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Mechanical Estimator to develop accurate and competitive cost estimates for mechanical systems, including HVAC piping, ductwork, and plumbing.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze drawings, specifications, and project documents to develop accurate mechanical cost estimates
- Prepare detailed quantity take-offs for HVAC piping, ductwork, and plumbing systems
- Solicit, review, and evaluate bids from subcontractors and material suppliers
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and clients to clarify project scope and requirements
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and provide value engineering recommendations
- Prepare bid proposals, budgets, and tender submissions in accordance with project requirements
- Maintain and update historical cost data for use in future estimates
- Attend project meetings and site visits as required
- Stay current with industry trends, applicable codes, and pricing standards
- Ensure all estimates comply with company standards, policies, and established deadlines
- Perform additional duties as needed to support estimating and preconstruction efforts
ualifications & Skills
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Mechanical Estimator
- Proficiency in estimating and take-off software, including Trimble AutoBid and Bluebeam
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, including HVAC piping, ductwork, and plumbing
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; working knowledge of Microsoft Word and internet-based software
- Experience with Quickpen Design software preferred
- Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability, statistical inference, plane and solid geometry, and trigonometry
- Ability to apply fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical estimating situations
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Ability to interpret complex technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form
- Ability to read and analyze technical documents, specifications, business reports, and governmental regulations
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports and present information to managers, clients, and stakeholders
