Mechanical Project Manager – HVAC & Plumbing Location Tampa, Florida

Southeast mechanical contractor is seeking an experienced
Mechanical Project Manager to support and deliver HVAC and plumbing construction projects in the
Tampa Bay market. This role is responsible for overseeing project execution from preconstruction through closeout while coordinating closely with field leadership, subcontractors, and clients.
This opportunity is ideal for a mechanical PM who enjoys
owning projects, working directly with operations, and managing complex commercial and industrial work.
Key Responsibilities Project Management & Execution
- Manage mechanical HVAC and plumbing construction projects from award through completion
- Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and cost forecasts
- Coordinate closely with Superintendents, Foremen, and field teams to ensure smooth execution
- Track project progress and proactively address schedule, scope, and cost risks
- Review drawings, specifications, and submittals to ensure contract compliance
Financial & Contract Management
- Manage project budgets, cost reporting, and forecasting
- Prepare and negotiate change orders, RFIs, and scope clarifications
- Assist with subcontractor buyout and vendor procurement
- Ensure accurate billing, pay applications, and project closeout documentation
Collaboration & Client Relations
- Serve as primary point of contact for owners, general contractors, and design teams
- Participate in project kickoff, pre-planning, and turnover meetings
- Support preconstruction and estimating teams as needed
- Build and maintain long-term client and trade partner relationships
Safety & Quality
- Promote and enforce a strong safety culture on all projects
- Ensure work is completed in accordance with contract documents, codes, and company standards
- Support quality control and commissioning efforts
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience managing mechanical HVAC and/or plumbing construction projects
- Experience delivering commercial, healthcare, institutional, or industrial projects
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, scheduling, and cost control
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Experience working with subcontractors, vendors, and self-perform crews preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred
