Mechanical Project Manager/ Estimator

Job Description
Oversees and directs construction management. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Leads and directs the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected in this area
Duties And Responsibilities
- Prepare and complete estimates for assigned Mechanical projects
- Review proposal specifications, drawings, attend pre-bid meetings, etc. to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.
- Coordinate the identification of items and information needed for bid preparation.
- Forecasts project costs
- Utilize computerized estimation software,
- Follow awarded contracts as assigned potentially estimating extra work items, change orders, credits, procuring material, etc., and overall management direction for field projects.
- Review and analyze task code reports of actual cost vs. estimated cost and assume additional responsibilities per supervisor direction.
- Business communication & relation skills and an interest and ability to estimate all types of projects/contracts.
- Once a contract is signed, ensure each the job is properly set up in the computer systems regarding job costing, estimated costs, schedule of values and AIA invoicing.
- Provide submittals after contract is signed on each project
- Responsible for the overall profitability of projects
- Ensure projects are properly manned and meet schedule requirements
- Responsible for processing all change orders and ensuring billings and collections are accurate and timely
- Provide monthly analysis of all projects regarding profitability and status
- Communicate and work through project issues with our superintendent and Superintendents and Project Managers.
- Ensure each job is properly staffed and move staff from project to project as required
- Ensure each job receives required tooling and equipment in a timely manner
- Visit jobsites as required to ensure project is on track with agreed schedule and attend weekly jobsite meetings.
- Provide all closing documents and warranty items as required
- Provide senior management with monthly project reports on each project.
Experience / Requirements - Educational and experience requirements include: 4-year degree in Mechanical Engineering;
- Experience with commercial / industrial and institutional mechanical projects
- Estimating and project management experience - 5 years minimum
- New construction experience
- Conceptual, plan, and spec. estimating experience
- Computer proficiency
- BlueBeam, Microsoft Office, onscreen takeoff, CAD, project management and estimating software skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong planning and analytical skills
- All employees are part of the sales team and must develop and maintain relationships
- Ability to coordinate and supervise a group work effort.
- Excellent knowledge of plumbing construction
- Valid driver’s License
- Clean driving record
