Position Scope
Reporting to the President of the Residential HVAC business unit, the Vice President of Product management will manage a multi-billion product portfolio for Trane Technologies’ Residential HVAC business. The VP of Product Management will be critical in developing business strategy and fueling new product development activities for the Residential HVAC business unit business. This position is responsible for defining the go-forward strategy for the various product categories including developing plans for internal investment in New Product Development, new business segments and optimizing areas of profitable growth. A successful candidate for this position will be an experienced leader with a proven record of creatively and profitably growing product lines/segments through use portfolio/innovation processes and tools. Overall, the Vice President of Product Management will provide thought leadership, influence, and hands-on engagement to lead the business unit's comprehensive implementation of the product management strategies, talent & capability development, and product growth team (PGT) effectiveness. PGTs are a proven cross-functional team structure that ensures alignment of the activities of Global Integrated Supply Chain (GISC), Engineering, Technology and Innovation, Product Management, and supporting functions around managing activities of a value stream associated with a specific product family, or portfolio of products. This position requires excellent cross-functional collaboration and influencing skills across other departments.

Where Is The Work
This position has been designated as a Hybrid work schedule with work performed onsite 3 days each week.
Major Responsibilities
Provide leadership and management of the product management and pricing functions including capability maturation for new product development process, commercialization, price optimization, channel strategy and product life-cycle management.
Develop and own the Regulatory and Sustainability Strategy for the business unit — Frame strategy on responding to or influencing emerging and existing federal, state, and local regulations particularly as they impact our 2030 sustainability commitments
Market & Competitive Insights — Lead the strategy of product-focused insights including tailored insights on ROI; these insights will be used to understand market competition, entice dealers and help stimulate channel grow
Product Growth Strategy—Provide thought leadership to respond to national, state, and local regulation changes while developing a strategy to proactively shape channels as the channels evolve; Foster a culture of calculated risk-taking
Product Development—Make strategic selective choices on new and leading technologies which may include developing and managing new partnerships
Develop and implement best-in-class pricing strategies to ensure maximum value achievement while minimizing leakage. This will include pricing strategy relating to products in the portfolio and competitor/market pricing; provide direction/thought leadership on customer pricing strategy
Product Roadmap and Lifestyle— Lead and ensure execution of product lifetime plan, includes multi-generational product plans and planned product sunsetting
In-Line Product Management—Provide leadership to and work closely with Portfolio leaders to ensure product performance management
Product Forecast—Strategic leadership of the product forecast through the SIOP process including with a forward-looking plan of how to incorporate predictive analytics and demand generation modelling in the future
Lead the PGT (Product Growth Teams) leadership teams to develop and implement strategies and product roadmaps that drive the portfolio's sustainable, profitable growth. Coach and mentor product managers to lead PGTs in developing and implementing strategic growth plans founded on a deep understanding of the customer and market segments.
Education/Experience
- A minimum of 15 years of professional experience, with 10+ years of Product Management functional experience.
- Product Management mastery-level experience inclusive of guiding teams through generating, developing, and launching offerings.
- Deep enterprise-wide, multi-site experience leading a regional product management function in a diversified industrial environment.
- Strong academic background and evidence of strategic thinking ability supported by a bachelor’s degree in engineering (or related field) and an MBA (preferred).
- Exceptional leadership skills and capability to build consensus and execute common goals in a matrixed environment.
- A track record of delivering tangible results in a high-performance environment
- Strong people and communication skills inclusive of public speaking to interact with senior leaders, staff, colleagues, cross-functional teams and third parties
- Experience in HVAC or “engineering-focused” industry
- Position requires approximately 25% travel.
