Description
The purpose of this job is to teach in the area of HVAC. Work with the Dean in recruiting students; maintain required documentation; maintain classroom/lab and any equipment; enforce safety regulations and perform a variety of related duties.
Examples of Duties
Essential Duties
- Manage instructional program and teach 18-30 classroom and lab contact hours per week in the HVAC program. Teaching assignments may be scheduled on either campus during the day, evening, weekends or online.
- Recruit students for the program and ensure that promotional information is current and accurate.
- Assist the Dean in recruiting, hiring, and mentoring qualified adjunct faculty for the HVAC program.
- Advise students through the program using current information.
- Develop and maintain accessible syllabi and course materials specific to the program.
- Coordinate textbook selection, library resources, equipment, and supplies to enhance learning.
- Assist the Dean with class scheduling.
- Raise funds through grants and/or other means to meet the financial needs of the program.
- Participate in professional development activities that benefit the program.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean, or the Vice President, Instruction.
- Instruction may occur inside BYHS or on other PCC campuses.
- All faculty work a minimum of 39 hours per week.

Typical Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience: Two years of advancedtraining and/or related industry experiencein specified teaching area.
Specialized Training: EPA refrigerant recovery certification required.
Preferred Qualifications
Education and Experience: Associate degree or diploma in the teaching field. Some teaching or training experienced.
Specialized Training: NC HVAC Contract Licensed; ESCO
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Knowledge of college policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of State Board Policies including Career and College Promise.
- Knowledge of local LEAs.
- Knowledge of curriculum and continuing education program content.
- Skilled in Microsoft Office products.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Supplemental Information
Physical Demands
This job requires continuous sitting and talking or hearing; occasional standing, walking, and gripping or feeling with hands; typing/repetitive movement. Occasionally required to lift up to 25 pounds.
Working Conditions
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to indoor environment, outdoor environment, noise, classroom setting.
