Responsibilities
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
- Gather and analyze project documents and specifications to determine the scope of work.
- Create accurate cost estimates and proposals for mechanical and electrical systems such as HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and fire protection.
- Calculate the cost of materials, labor, and equipment needed for construction projects.
- Evaluate subcontractor bids and negotiate pricing and scope of work.
- Collaborate with project managers and engineers to develop construction schedules and budgets.
- Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits to gather information and assess project requirements.
- Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors to ensure competitive pricing.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Mechanical and/or Electrical Engineering, or a related field (preferred)
- Ability to calculate mathematical extensions, read and understand drawings, purchase orders, contracts, cost coding systems, etc. is essential.
- General knowledge of estimating techniques, cost control and material pricing required.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while still meeting deadlines.
- Proven experience with estimating software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, or similar).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Project).
