General Manager – Industrial Sheet Metal Division
River City Sheet Metal is hiring a General Manager to lead and scale our Industrial Sheet Metal Division. This person must have a background in mechanical engineering, with a Professional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferred. The role requires someone who can build customer relationships, drive efficiency in fabrication and installation, and expand our capabilities across both industrial and commercial sheet metal and ducting.
We are seeking a hands-on leader who can effectively balance business development with operational execution. This role requires someone who is comfortable engaging directly with clients, guiding fabrication and field operations, and making the strategic decisions that drive growth. Experience leading union sheet metal crews is essential, and the ability to work effectively within a union environment is a must.
Primary Objectives:
- Lead the Industrial Sheet Metal Division, owning sales, operations, and team development.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with industrial and commercial clients, GCs, and plant owners.
- Drive growth by pursuing new opportunities and expanding into commercial ducting and HVAC sheet metal markets.
- Oversee fabrication and field operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality performance.
- Implement processes, KPIs, and systems to improve efficiency, cost control, and scalability.
- Support design-build efforts and value engineering with technical and engineering expertise.
- Recruit, coach, and develop a high-performing team of estimators, PMs, and field leaders.
- Collaborate with Best Mechanical’s other divisions (HVAC, Plumbing, Service, Industrial Piping) to deliver turnkey solutions.
- Represent River City Sheet Metal with professionalism, accountability, and a drive to win.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering – required.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license – strongly preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in industrial or commercial sheet metal, HVAC, or mechanical contracting.
- Proven track record of building business units, driving growth, and leading teams.
- Strong technical knowledge of sheet metal fabrication, stainless steel systems, and industrial ventilation.
- Experience managing and collaborating with union sheet metal crews – required.
- Comfortable engaging customers, leading from the field, and making strategic business decisions.
- Clear, confident communicator with strong organizational and leadership skills.
- Committed to accountability, quality, and team success.
- Strong knowledge of the Local Sheet Metal Union and the ability to maintain productive working relationships with its representatives.
