Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager to lead maintenance operations at a high-volume dairy manufacturing facility in Indiana. This role is responsible for ensuring equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, and leading a skilled maintenance team in a fast-paced, food-grade environment.

The ideal candidate brings strong leadership, hands-on technical expertise, and a proactive approach to preventive and predictive maintenance within dairy or liquid food processing.

Key Responsibilities

Lead, coach, and develop the site maintenance team (mechanics, electricians, technicians)
Oversee all preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs
Drive equipment reliability and reduce unplanned downtime
Manage maintenance budgets, spare parts inventory, and capital projects
Ensure compliance with food safety, GMP, OSHA, and SQF/FSMA requirements
Partner with Production, QA, and Engineering to support operational goals
Support continuous improvement initiatives (TPM, Lean, CMMS optimization)
Coordinate installation, commissioning, and upgrades of processing and packaging equipment
Serve as the site subject-matter expert for utilities (boilers, refrigeration, HVAC, compressed air)

Equipment & Systems Exposure (Preferred)

Pasteurizers, separators, homogenizers
HTST / UHT systems
Filling and packaging lines
CIP systems
Industrial refrigeration (ammonia or Freon)
Boilers and steam systems
PLC-controlled equipment (Allen-Bradley preferred)

Qualifications

5+ years of maintenance leadership experience in dairy, food, beverage, or liquid processing
Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting background
Experience managing teams in a 24/7 manufacturing environment
Working knowledge of CMMS systems
Solid understanding of food safety and regulatory requirements
Ability to lead by example in a hands-on environment

Education

Technical degree or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Maintenance, or related field preferred
Equivalent hands-on experience will be considered
