Hourly position – Office hours are primarily weekdays 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Responsibilities include a rotational on-call and occasionally require additional hours and flexibility that can include evenings and weekends.
Position Description
The HVAC Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of campus-wide HVAC systems. This role places an emphasis on Building Automation System (BAS) monitoring, diagnostics, and troubleshooting to ensure efficient operation of campus buildings.
Key Responsibilities: HVAC Systems
- Address preventative maintenance to maximize equipment life and efficiency
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical systems, sensors, actuators, controllers, and communication faults related to HVAC.
- Respond to service requests and urgent campus comfort issues in a timely manner
- Knowledgeable with BAS platforms (Niagara, Johnson Controls, Trane, etc.)
- Other duties as assigned.
Campus Operations Support
- Support special campus needs (events, academic schedules, etc.)
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs, BAS records, and equipment documentation
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- EPA Section 608 Certification (required)
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial HVAC systems
- Experience with BAS platforms and HVAC controls systems
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, controls, and HVAC components
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and control diagrams
Preferred
- Associate degree in HVAC, mechanical systems, or related field
- Certifications such as NATE, HVAC Excellence, or controls-specific training
- Experience with lab environments, data centers, or critical systems
