Orion Solutions Group is representing a growing mechanical contractor seeking an experienced Mechanical Estimator to help drive continued expansion throughout Southeast Michigan.
This is a high-impact role for someone who enjoys winning work, building customer relationships, and influencing project success from the earliest stages of development. The successful candidate will work directly with company leadership, customers, engineers, and project teams to develop competitive estimates and secure profitable projects.
This is not a back-office estimating position. The Estimator will be actively involved with customers, project planning, and business growth initiatives while maintaining significant visibility within the organization.

What You'll Do
- Prepare detailed estimates for commercial and industrial mechanical construction projects
- Review drawings, specifications, and bid documents to develop competitive proposals
- Perform quantity takeoffs and cost analyses for HVAC, piping, sheet metal, refrigeration, and related systems
- Develop value-engineering alternatives and project execution strategies
- Build relationships with customers, general contractors, engineers, and vendors
- Conduct site visits and pre-bid walkthroughs
- Participate in scope reviews, budgeting discussions, and project planning meetings
- Support project teams with change order pricing and cost analysis throughout project execution
- Help ensure projects are positioned for successful execution and profitability
What We're Looking For
- 7+ years of experience in mechanical estimating, project management, or mechanical construction operations
- Strong understanding of commercial and industrial HVAC systems
- Experience with mechanical takeoffs, estimating, and bid development
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Strong customer-facing communication skills
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a desire to influence business growth
- Proven ability to manage multiple opportunities and deadlines simultaneously
