Job Summary - HVAC Supervisor (Gulfport, MS Base)

The HVAC Supervisor is responsible for leading and overseeing all commercial HVAC operations at the Gulfport, MS base. This role supervises a team of approximately 10 HVAC technicians, ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant installation, maintenance, and repair of complex HVAC systems. The supervisor works closely with government subcontractors and the project manager to meet project schedules, quality standards, and contractual requirements within a secure government facility.
This position provides hands-on leadership across a wide range of equipment, including large-tonnage chillers, air handling and make‑up air units, commercial boiler systems, cooling towers, pumps, and advanced DDC/building automation systems. The HVAC Supervisor ensures adherence to safety regulations, maintains detailed documentation and service records, supports inspections and audits, and actively trains, mentors, and develops technicians to maintain high performance and operational readiness.
Key Responsibilities
- Directly supervise, train, and guide a team of 10 HVAC technicians.
- Coordinate with government subcontractors and project manager to ensure timely and compliant project execution.
- Oversee installation, maintenance, and repair of commercial HVAC systems including:
- Chillers up to 125 tons
- Air Handling Units (AHU) and Make-Up Air Units (MAU)
- Major brands such as Daikin, Trane, Carrier, and Rheem
- Supervise maintenance and troubleshooting Direct Digital Control (DDC) systems and Siemens building automation systems.
- Manage and supervise service commercial boiler systems, including: RayPak, Lochinvar, Weil-McLain, and Aldrich.
- Ensure optimal performance and maintenance of hot and chilled water pumps and cooling towers.
- Conduct system inspections and audits to ensure adherence to safety, compliance, and operational standards.
- Maintain documentation, logs, and maintenance records.
Minimum Requirements
- 5+ years of hands-on HVAC experience in commercial and residential environments.
- Prior supervisory or team leadership experience in HVAC operations.
- HVAC certification (EPA Universal required).
- Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance (U.S. citizenship required).
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, HVAC principles, and safety codes.
- Exceptional communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to train, mentor, and manage a team effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification or training in Siemens DDC controls.
- Experience with government or military installations.
- OSHA 10/30 certification.
- Experience with project scheduling and cost estimating
