Title: Mechanical Estimator
Duration: 1-year contract (high potential for direct hire)
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Estimator to support mission-critical data center construction projects. This role plays a key part in delivering accurate, competitive cost estimates in a fast-paced environment, with strong potential to transition into a full-time position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for mechanical scopes on data center construction projects
- Review and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents
- Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to develop comprehensive and competitive proposals
- Perform quantity take-offs and analyze labor, material, and equipment costs
- Evaluate subcontractor and vendor bids to ensure alignment with project requirements
- Support value engineering efforts and identify cost-saving opportunities
- Manage multiple estimates simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical estimating, preferably in construction environments
- Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings and technical specifications
- In-depth knowledge of mechanical systems, including HVAC, piping, and related components
- Experience with estimating software such as Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or similar tools
- Excellent communication, organization, and negotiation skills
- Proven ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities
- Formal education or professional background in Mechanical Engineering (or a closely related discipline), providing a strong technical foundation for estimating complex systems
Preferred Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- Prior experience working with a general contractor
- Experience supporting mission-critical or data center construction projects is highly desirable
