This role plays a critical part in maintaining and improving manufacturing and distribution facilities and equipment that directly influence safety, quality, cost, and throughput.
Position Overview
The Facilities Manager will lead a support team responsible for multiple sites, overseeing the maintenance, safety, and day-to-day operation of buildings, equipment, and grounds. The goal is to ensure a safe, compliant, and efficient working environment that supports operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance & Reliability
- Plan, schedule, and oversee preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs for buildings, equipment, and systems.
- Ensure facilities and equipment operate safely, efficiently, and reliably.
Compliance & Communication
- Conduct risk assessments and ensure compliance with all applicable regulations.
- Clearly communicate KPIs, risks, and facility needs to key stakeholders.
Vendor & Contract Management
- Select, negotiate, and manage service contracts for maintenance and other facility-related services.
- Ensure vendor performance meets cost, quality, and service expectations.
Space & Resource Planning
- Optimize workspace utilization.
- Coordinate equipment relocations and facility modifications.
Team Leadership
- Lead, coach, and develop a non-union facilities team.
- Promote best practices, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications & Experience
- Experience managing facilities in manufacturing, industrial, or distribution environments
- Proven leadership experience
- Strong mechanical aptitude with manufacturing equipment
- Working knowledge of electrical and HVAC systems
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Solid understanding of lean manufacturing principles
- Ability to manage multiple projects independently with minimal supervision
- Comfortable working cross-functionally with operations, maintenance, and external vendors
- Proficient with Windows-based systems
