Troubleshoot and repair HVAC equipment.

Install and maintain heating systems and air conditioning systems; troubleshoot and make repairs as necessary.
Establish and follow a preventive maintenance schedule for assigned equipment; inspect tools regularly; clean tools daily after use; order and maintain supplies.
Employ safe work practices; follow safety guidelines established by OSHA and assigned department; follow the Employee Safety Instruction Manual.
Develop work plans and schedules for the provision of services.
As appropriate, direct or supervise the work of lower level personnel.
Review drawings and diagrams; create and update drawings and diagrams as appropriate.
Perform Related Duties And Responsibilities As Required.
Four (4) years of paid full time journeyman level experience and four (4) years
Apprenticeship level experience in the operation and maintenance of HVAC equipment and controls.
A two (2) year educational program in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning at a technical institute or college may be substituted for two (2) years of apprenticeship experience.
Other Requirements
Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Commercial Driver's License.
Military Education & Experience Evaluation
Military education and experience may be substituted for college level course work at the lower and upper division baccalaureate and graduate levels and apprenticeship training at the vocational certificate level on a case by case basis based on the American Council on Education (ACE) Military Guide recommendations.
Additional Exam Information
Credit for Military Service: Special credit for honorable military service is given (1) only to Ohio residents, (2) who successfully complete all portions of the testing process, and (3) who provide Human Resources a long-form copy of your DD-214 confirming an honorable discharge (Character of Service Box 24 on DD-214). Disabled veterans shall receive ten preference points and non-disabled veterans shall receive five preference points. Veteran's points will be added only to passing scores.
Background Investigation: A criminal background investigation will be conducted for this position (according to Civil Service Commission Rule 15 – Sensitive Classifications/Positions and the Critical Infrastructure Protection Act of 2001 and the Patriot Act).
