Director of Commercial Mechanical Construction
📍 Dallas–Fort Worth, TX
This is a true build-and-own opportunity.
A growing commercial mechanical contractor is launching a new commercial HVAC construction division and is hiring a senior leader to take full ownership of it. Strategy, relationships, execution, and P&L. This role is not maintenance mode. It is creation mode.
If you already have strong GC relationships in DFW and know how to turn trust into backlog, this is built for you.
Why this role stands out
- You are launching and leading a new construction division, not inheriting one
- Immediate ability to leverage existing GC relationships to drive revenue
- Full P&L ownership with real upside tied to performance
- Strong back-office, service infrastructure, and executive support already in place
- EOS-run organization with clarity, accountability, and structure
What you will own:
Division Leadership
- Build and scale the commercial HVAC construction division from the ground up
- Hire, lead, and develop project managers, estimators, and field leadership
- Establish estimating, project execution, job costing, and operational standards
- Align construction and service offerings for long-term client value
- Own EOS execution for the division including Rocks, Scorecards, and L10s
Business Development
- Leverage existing GC and developer relationships to secure immediate work
- Lead preconstruction, proposals, negotiations, and project pursuit strategy
- Build a consistent pipeline across commercial, institutional, and light industrial markets
- Represent the company with GCs, developers, and industry partners
Operations & Financials
- Oversee estimating, scheduling, procurement, and field execution
- Ensure projects hit schedule, margin, quality, and safety targets
- Own division P&L, forecasting, backlog, and labor utilization
- Deliver consistent job costing and financial visibility
What they are looking for
- 5–7+ years in commercial HVAC construction
- Proven GC-facing leadership with repeat business
- Experience delivering projects in the $300K to $2M+ range
- Strong mechanical and construction knowledge
- Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to build and scale
- Comfortable owning outcomes, not just managing tasks
- Experience with EOS is a plus, not a requirement
First-year expectations
- Launch the construction division and reach profitability
- Build roughly $8M in backlog through existing relationships
- Establish a complete operational team and execution rhythm
- Deliver projects within ±3% of estimated margin
- Drive high repeat business and client satisfaction
Compensation
- Base salary $150K–$200K depending on experience
- Performance-based profit sharing tied to division results
- Vehicle or allowance
- Full benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401k, and PTO
This role is for someone who wants to build something meaningful, not just run what already exists.
If that sounds like you, let’s talk.
