The Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing all maintenance operations to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient facility and equipment performance. This role leads maintenance staff, manages preventive and corrective maintenance programs, and works closely with operations to minimize downtime while controlling costs and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, supervise, and develop maintenance technicians and skilled trades personnel.
- Plan, schedule, and oversee preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance for equipment, machinery, and facilities.
- Ensure equipment reliability and minimize unplanned downtime through effective maintenance strategies.
- Manage maintenance budgets, parts inventory, tools, and vendor relationships.
- Coordinate maintenance activities with production and operations teams to meet business objectives.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and company safety standards; enforce safe work practices.
- Oversee facility maintenance including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, building systems, and grounds.
- Develop and track KPIs such as downtime, PM compliance, MTTR, and maintenance costs.
- Lead troubleshooting efforts and root cause analysis for equipment failures.
- Support capital projects, equipment installations, and facility upgrades.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation using CMMS systems.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, Facilities Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of maintenance leadership experience in manufacturing, industrial, or commercial environments.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Experience with CMMS software and preventive maintenance programs.
- Proven leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Lean manufacturing or TPM experience.
- Reliability engineering or predictive maintenance experience.
- OSHA safety certification.
- Experience managing union or multi-shift maintenance teams.
Work Environment
- Manufacturing or industrial facility with on-call responsibilities.
- May require evenings, weekends, or emergency response support.
